IRS Moved Tax Filing Deadline to July 15

The U.S. treasury secretary announced today that is extending the federal income tax filing deadline to July 15th, in order to provide taxpayers and businesses additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

This three-month extension is part of an effort to keep the economy afloat while people and companies deal with the unprecedented financial impact caused by the pandemic.

The new deadlines announced by the administration, apply to federal tax income payments only. State filing due dates remain the same as of now. We will be monitoring the situation, and as more details become available, we will keep you updated.

This announcement follows the one earlier this week that individuals and businesses would be allowed to delay paying their 2019 tax bills for 90 days past the usual April 15 deadline.
